Going Into The Personalized Bar Mirror Fantasy
Slowly I got down the Berber carpet stairway cautiously holding onto the railing. Arriving in my home-based bar, I caught a look at myself in one of the bar mirrors on the wall. I read the "fun never ends" quotation that is etched onto the mirror and wonder. Will it never end? Will the enjoyment never end? Certainly it was a pleasurable evening. Some buddies had gathered at my place to share a meal, some stories, and a few drinks.
Looking at my reflection in the bar mirror and checking out the bags under my eyes, I decided to forget about that pre-bed glass of wine. Weary, I settled onto the chair and powered on the television. I found something soothing to watch, hoping it would send me peacefully off to dreamland. The next thing I remember Mike Holmes from Holmes on Homes is screaming at me. "This has to go. One of the hosts of the home improvement program was in my dream as well. He pointed to the roofing, showing me the splits. He started with the roofing above my living area. Holmes catches hold of portions of roofing pieces and tosses them my way. He marches over to the bar and looks in the custom bar mirror at his biceps out-thrusting of his brown overalls and flexes. "This is nice," he says, and flashes the famed Mike Holme's smile, " and so is the bar." He stared at it approvingly and smiled. "Let's have a cocktail and see how it works," he mentioned with a grin. Instantaneously, the whiskey bottle was in my hand, and I teemed us two stiff drinks.
"Okay, I' ll give you a pina colada." As Holmes commences whipping up the pina colada Genevieve Gorder from HGTV's "Dear Genevieve" program walks out of the bathroom with a paint roller in one hand, a roll of blue painter's tape in the other and a smoke hanging out of her mouth. Pointing to the walls, he started to list the colors emerging in mind. Unexpectedly, he had a paint roller in his hand and was painting the walls a vibrant green. We completed the first wall in short time and moved on to the others, now painting them bright yellow. We pleased ourselves for our speedy work with an additional whiskey on the rocks. "Tequila," she shouts at Holmes, "and why do you two insist on donning tank tops all the time?"
I work my way over to the bar, suddenly very self-conscious about the lack of style in my large family room. Not having this season's niftiest paint colors on my walls was the least of my fears. Even in my dream, I felt ashamed at my lack of panache! Again, we were back in my home-based bar. "This bar mirror is outstanding," he expressed, stopping to take a good look at it. "Is that a glass etching" David Bromstad agrees. "An amazing thing like that actually takes this to the next level and makes it feel authentic", he said approvingly. Holmes snorts, catches hold of a chainsaw and cuts my bar in half. Scraps of wood fly all over. I recognized that I was donning safety glasses and a hardhat.
I heard a voice, sounding like it was coming from inside my home. The voiceover said, "Will the Johnsons select the Victorian fixer-upper, the house with the big back yard, or the townhouse with half a bar and elegant, personalized bar mirrors?"
I feel a minor shaking feeling and discover my wife is standing over me, shaking me by the shoulder. She was just about to switch the television off with the remote. "Wait!" I instruct her, " I would like to see which house they selected." She looked puzzled for a moment. "Oh, right, on the program…they picked the third one," she stated, still looking slightly puzzled.
As I headed off to bed, I knew it was the personalized bar mirrors that had tipped the scales.
